Petrified Wood with Banded Agate (incredibly rare color)Petrified wood is found in a wide range of colors, but green is certainly rare worldwide. I'm told that the color is caused by nickel content, and it's not dyed, as you can clearly see solid green patches on the back (unpolished side) of the piece. The form of the original tree is clearly seen and well preserved. If you look closely, you can actually see patches of beautiful soft lilac and golden brown colored banded Agate which has filled in some of

The piece has good luster on the prism faces

This piece features a few excellent quality

It's good quality and virtually undamaged

At one point it was a euhedral gem crystal but

The Galena crystals are essentially cubic in habit but show a slight amount of what I would describe as being slightly “built-up” with minor stepped faces almost resembling "Cathedral Gothic" Pyrite

but the correct name for the locality is Billy Creek

these specimens are virtually impossible to find on the market now as the area around Coober Pedy is difficult to mine since it is no longer profitable or commercially successful for the effort required

but this piece breaks the mold

Here we have an excellent specimen of Chrysoberyl exhibiting fine
